Stem cells, which are collected from umbilical cord blood, are unique treasure and sometimes the only antidote used to treat many diseases. Umbilical blood can be collected only during the labor. It is, in a way, life insurance which in future may save your Child's life.

Moreover, stem cells may be used both by the donor and the members of his/her family. Probability of compatibility of the tissue of stem cells between siblings is two times higher than in case of bone marrow.

FACTS

Stem cells from umbilical cord blood are more primitive than those found in bone marrow and therefore carry a lower incidence of graft versus host disease (GVHD), making it possible to perform transplants with less than perfect matches of marrow type and potentially decreasing the morbidity and mortality overall of the recipients.
